Spin Cycle 1.0

03.17.06 | Comment?

Perhaps this isn’t proper news, but I wanted to share some of the bands that I’ve been really into recently. When I come across good music my first instinct is to share it with other people that I think will take as much form it as I do. So that said, I think I’ll have the occasional update with regards to recent albums of interest.

So here goes. Records that have been monopolising my iTunes. By the way, this is NOT a ranking.

  • Lali Puna - I Thought I was Over That
They can do no wrong with me. Valerie could read the dictionary and I’d listen to it, but this is a nice collection of hard to find tracks — all top notch.
  • Weevil - Drunk on Light
Amazing Dual lead vocals and intertwining harmonies, coupled with excellent melodies and pristine programing.
  • Fenton - Pup
Brilliantly ambient sound scapes. Not a far cry from the recent Bibio album last year on Mush records.
  • Mole Harness - A Present from the Future
Absolutely brillaint record. Instrumental songs made with…acoustic guitars, samples, sparkling melodies, and two scoops of awesome.
  • Epic45 - England Fallen Over
The ever reliable and prolific Epic45 have delivered their best release to date with this one…and that’s saying quite alot. Stunningly brilliant. Essential.
  • Tunng - This is Tunng
Brilliant folk music, laced with pristine electronic flourishes, catchy melodies and sprinkled with….god dust?
