Just got back from a much needed vacation to Napa, San Francisco and Monterey.

Just a quick update, I’m finishing a remix for band called Kontakte. The song is called Two a Half Thousand and Miles. They’re a great band that you should definitely check out if you haven’t.

Also, I’m just finishing the linear notes for Soft Focus, then it’s off to press. To be released later this summer.

Finally, there’s another project that I’m working on… an EP that I wrote most of a couple of years ago while I was on holiday in Japan. It looks like there will be 4 tracks, even though I originally started with 6, unless I can scrape together some remixes or collaborations. No release date on that yet, but I thought it was worth mentioning.

It’s been far too long since I’ve given you guys an update. I apologize.

I just moved this site onto Wordpress in hopes of making it easier for me to keep it up to date. Let me know if you find any broken links or other such problems.

Part of what’s been keeping me so inordinately busy has been the running of my label Drifting Falling, and my move back to Texas, among other things. All of the tracking and mastering for my upcoming record has long been finished. It’s called Soft Focus, and will be out on Drifting Falling later this year.

This promises to be a busy year for OBTL as I’ve got a few projects in progress that should see the light of day later this year.

Fenton - Pup
Instrumental soundscaped bliss. This is it’s second appearance on this list but it’s well deserved.

Epic45 -DrakelowThe masters of melancholic pastoral beauty bring it forth again with this 8 track disc that is a great follow-up to thier England Falling Over, cleansing the pallet instrumental aural explorations before the forthcoming and much anticipated re-release of the epic(no pun intended) Slides. Last indication was that the reissue will also include the extremely limited edition Long Walks EP. Also looking forward to a forthcoming LP of all new material.

Ms. John Soda - Notes and the LikeThis picks up right where No P or D left off…with great pop sensibilities, excellent production and effortless momentum.

Televise - Songs to Sing in E & A
This is a strong album which brings all the previous hints of good things to come to a head. Amazing guitar sounds and strong rhythm section keep things moving along while Simon Scott’s youthful voice soars overhead.

I’m five songs into working on the new Oppressed by the Line disc, and my laptop’s power supply has quit working. At least I HOPE it’s the power supply! My laptop has lost the ability to charge (or even work) from wall power. The result was a panicked emergency back up of most of my harddisk, using the remaining battery power. Utterly shit. Utterly annoying. So essentially my laptop is collecting dust. The disc is on mothballs until I can sort this out.

I’ve put through an order for a replacement power supply from the manufacturer..but unfortunately it had to be ordered from the US and shipped to a US address…I live in London so this is a bit of an issue. I’ve managed to have it sent to a stateside family member, and will hopefully be up and working again soon. However, this downtime has already stretched on for some 3 weeks and is growing tiresome.

My desktop PC is knackered and inadequate in almost every way, so it’s not an option. In the meantime, I’m catching up on my reading.
