My next disc Kiku was  sent off to the plant a couple of weeks ago, and there is every indication that I should have it in hand in about the next week.  Of course there’s alot of busy work that needs to be done between now and release, but I expect you’ll be able to get you eager hands on a copy soon.

I’ve been hearing lots of great feedback from the release of Soft Focus.  Lots of kind words and they’re very appreciated.  I thought it was time to discuss my next release.  It will be an EP, and will be out next year on Drifting Falling.  It was written a couple of years ago when I was on holiday in Japan but the finishing touches have only recently settled into place.   I haven’t settled on a definite name for it yet, so I won’t be spilling that today, but I do have a base track listing which I hope to augment with some remixes.  The track listing is as follows:

1. Mountain Mist
2. Sunset from the 16th Floor
3. Paper Cranes
4. One Thousand Red Stars

I have another project in the pipeline as well.  Right now it’s about 6 tracks that may or may not develop into more.  But I expect that it’s a little further down the path than the EP at this point.  I’ll keep you posted on the progress.

Soft Focus is available for pre-order on the Drifting Falling webstore.  10 tracks, this album has been a long time coming.  I think it’s a great follow up to The Cause of the Colour.  I’ve posted a few new tracks to my MySpace page, for you to listen to and there is a track preview for Condensation (the opening track) on the Drifting Falling site.

Just a quick update, I’m finishing a remix for band called Kontakte. The song is called Two a Half Thousand and Miles. They’re a great band that you should definitely check out if you haven’t.

Also, I’m just finishing the linear notes for Soft Focus, then it’s off to press. To be released later this summer.

Finally, there’s another project that I’m working on… an EP that I wrote most of a couple of years ago while I was on holiday in Japan. It looks like there will be 4 tracks, even though I originally started with 6, unless I can scrape together some remixes or collaborations. No release date on that yet, but I thought it was worth mentioning.

I just moved this site onto Wordpress in hopes of making it easier for me to keep it up to date. Let me know if you find any broken links or other such problems.

Part of what’s been keeping me so inordinately busy has been the running of my label Drifting Falling, and my move back to Texas, among other things. All of the tracking and mastering for my upcoming record has long been finished. It’s called Soft Focus, and will be out on Drifting Falling later this year.

This promises to be a busy year for OBTL as I’ve got a few projects in progress that should see the light of day later this year.
